Melut, South Sudan

ACCESS is partnering with Sudan Sunrise to build a primary school in the village of Melut, Melut county, Upper Nile state.

 

Founded by Isaac Padiet in Utica, NY, Action Child Care Education of Southern Sudan (ACCESS) is a US-based organization dedicated to creating educational opportunities for the children in the village of Melut. 

The primary goal of ACCESS is to create an opportunity for the children of South Sudan to receive a proper education. ACCESS aspires to be the catalyst for initiativees that bring forth literacy at the grass roots level.  ACCESS has a vision of the children of South Sudan learning to read and write in English, developing independent thinking and communication skills, and studying history and government as a path to becoming the leaders of tomorrow for their communities and their country.  ACCESS classes are open to all persons seeking education regardless of age, gender, religion, or ethnicity. 

Objectives of the ACCESS project: 

  1. To acquire land and building materials for the primary school. 
  2. To provide educational materials and equipment for the school. 
  3. To recruit English-speaking instructional and supportive staff. 
  4. To construct housing for teachers, and support staff.
