Rudwan Dawod, a Sudan Sunrise Project Director remains in custody. The verdict for his case is scheduled to be presented in Khartoum on Monday, August 13th. Activists, reporters, and Members of Congress have passionately called for Rudwan's release. George Stephanopoulos of ABC news interviewed Nancy Dawod last week, highlighting Dawod's plight. Fox News also brought to light Rudwan's case in a recent article. NPR aired a segment describing the situation in Sudan and how Rudwan is being singled by Sudanese security forces to suppress the protests. Representatives Michael Capuano and Barbara Lee, Democratic co-chairs of the U.S. House Sudan Caucus also called for Rudwan's immediate release in a public statement.
Please write Princeton Lyman, U.S. Special Envoy for Sudan, and request that the U.S. government do all in its power to ensure the return of Rudwan to his wife and unborn child. You may also contact the Sudanese Embassy to express your concern for Rudwan, and the accusations made against him.
