Through grassroots reconciliation, education and community building, we lift up examples of peace and forgiveness between former enemies as alternatives to the history of violence in Sudan. This movement began in 2004 when Southern Sudanese took aid to refugees from the genocide in Darfur. This aid effort was extraordinary because the Darfurians had been used by the government of Sudan in a 22-year war against the Southerners which left 2 million of them dead and 4 million displaced.
Sudan Sunrise is a movement of individuals from different religious backgrounds working for reconciliation among Christians, Muslims and others, to promote peace, education, development and to end oppression.
By empowering Sudanese Christians and Muslims and others who are committed to fulfill the dream of Manute Bol of building 41 schools for children of all tribes and religions, built with green and innovative technology, we seek a new day for the people of South Sudan.
