Through grassroots initiatives on reconciliation, education, and community building, Sudan Sunrise supports projects that foster peace and forgiveness between former enemies as alternatives to the history of violence in Sudan and South Sudan.
Sudan Sunrise is a movement of individuals from diverse religious backgrounds working for reconciliation among Christians, Muslims and others, to promote peace, education, and development. Through projects that empower South Sudanese Christians and Muslims and others who are committed to fulfill the dream of Manute Bol to build 41 schools for children of all tribes and religions, we seek a new day for the people of South Sudan.
This movement began in 2004 when Sudan Sunrise partnered with Southern Sudanese to deliver aid to refugees in Darfur, as an extraordinary act of reconciliation between the north and south.
